1 min. readGavin Wood, the co-founder of Ethereum, Polkadot, and Kusama, aims to transform Web3 technology and cryptocurrency into a socially beneficial public good. He envisions a future where cryptocurrency transactions are free of fees to truly fulfill Web3's purpose. Wood is working on a unique Web3 identity solution called proof-of-ink, using tattoos, to make crypto and Web3 accessible globally. Initially, Wood and Vitalik Buterin considered eliminating the Ether token from Ethereum in 2013 but later retained it as an anti-spam measure and fundraising tool. Despite Ether's importance, developers must separate it from the Ethereum network to onboard Web2 users to Web3. Wood sees Polkadot's JAM chain as a model for achieving free cryptocurrency transactions, essential for the widespread adoption of Web3 technology.
