1 min. readSwiss tech company FinalSpark has introduced a program enabling scientists to rent cloud access to 'biocomputers' composed of human brain cells for $500 monthly. These biocomputers aim to create a cost-effective, energy-efficient solution for developing AI models. FinalSpark claims using organic material for training AI could be 100,000 times more efficient than traditional silicon technology. Neurospark, the brainchild of founder Fred Jordan, offers live access to computers made of human brain cell clusters. To train AI models using brain neurons, scientists must provide positive reinforcement like dopamine and negative reinforcement through electrical signals. FinalSpark's organoids can function for up to 100 days, allowing for months of AI training before relocation. This innovation hints at the potential for AI systems with lifespans akin to humans, and even the possibility of blockchain technology on organic computers.
