1 min. readStarkWare has made history by successfully completing the first zero-knowledge proof verification on the Bitcoin network. The blockchain developer recently announced this significant achievement, stating that their developers have verified the initial ZK proof using a new STARK verifier, Stwo Verifier on OP_CAT-enabled Bitcoin Signet. This marks the beginning of efforts to scale Bitcoin for widespread use. In June, StarkWare revealed plans to enhance Bitcoin's scalability for mass adoption through ZK proofs. The new scaling solution allows decentralized applications (dApps) to choose between settling on Bitcoin or Ethereum. StarkWare aims to enable Starknet as the first network to settle on both Bitcoin and Ethereum simultaneously, scaling Bitcoin to handle thousands of transactions per second. The company also offered a $1 million grant for research on OP_CAT. CEO Eli Ben-Sasson emphasized the importance of achieving Bitcoin's scalability while maintaining decentralization and security.
