Ethereum's Pectra Upgrade Set for March 2025

The timeline was discussed during the recent Execution Layer Meeting, outlining key milestones leading to the mainnet activation. Developers are finalizing block numbers for the Sepolia and Holesky forks, expected to be completed by Jan. 23 or 30. Updated client versions will be released on Feb. 3, with the Sepolia fork scheduled for Feb. 12 and the Holesky fork on Feb. 19. These forks will undergo shadow testing to ensure realistic conditions. Christine Kim from Galaxy Digital noted the flexibility of the timeline, citing potential delays due to testing issues. The Pectra upgrade, split into two phases, promises enhancements to Ethereum's efficiency and usability. The second phase may include EVM upgrades and PeerDAS technology implementation. Base aims to reach a billion transaction milestone and expand its ecosystem. Cynthia Lummis raised concerns about US crypto regulations, while Eric Balchunas predicted approval for spot Litecoin ETFs and a wave of altcoin-related approvals. Oklahoma is considering adding Bitcoin to its reserves.
