Expanding Blockchain Education at the United Nations

1 min. readThe United Nations has announced the expansion of its Blockchain Academy to provide training to over 24,000 staff members. In partnership with the Algorand Foundation, the initiative aims to equip UN personnel with blockchain skills to support sustainable development goals. Launched in late 2023, the academy has already seen success, with more than 30 staff members set to receive certificates. The program will now offer specialized blockchain education to staff within the UN Development Programme, UN Volunteers, and the United Nations Capital Development Fund. Doro Unger-Lee from the Algorand Foundation highlighted the importance of blockchain in addressing global challenges. The training helps UN staff understand how blockchain can contribute to a more sustainable future. The UNDP has utilized blockchain for supply chain tracking and carbon market transactions, showcasing the organization's commitment to innovative technologies for development programs. The expanded Blockchain Academy aims to empower staff to leverage blockchain for positive change.
