US President Biden Signs Executive Order to Boost AI Infrastructure
Wednesday. January 15 at 6:00 PM
1 min. readUS President Joe Biden, set to depart on Jan. 20, has issued an executive order to encourage the private sector in constructing AI infrastructure. The order aims to advance US leadership in AI infrastructure by directing the Department of Defense and the Department of Energy to lease federal land for private companies. This partnership between the government and industry is intended to ensure the US remains at the forefront of the AI era. The order mandates the use of US-made semiconductors at federal sites and allows oversight of private sector developers creating AI models on-site. This is Biden's 157th executive order since taking office in 2021 and the eighth in 2025. The move follows Biden's proposal to restrict semiconductor sales to foreign nations, which faced criticism from industry leaders for potentially harming US competitiveness. Biden's successor, President-elect Donald Trump, is expected to address crypto-related issues upon taking office.
