Elon Musk Claims DDoS Attack on Social Media Platform During Interview with Donald Trump
Tuesday. August 13 at 8:30 AM
1 min. readElon Musk, the owner of X, stated that the social media platform experienced a Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attack just as his planned interview with presidential candidate Donald Trump was about to begin. Musk announced on X on Aug. 12 that there was a significant DDoS attack on X and efforts were being made to stop it. A DDoS attack is designed to overwhelm a network or service with traffic to disrupt legitimate users from accessing it. Technical difficulties affected the X Space event where Musk and Trump were supposed to speak at 8:00 pm ET, preventing some users from joining. Despite the stream showing as 'not available,' approximately 120,000 users were still able to participate. Musk eventually started the interview around 8:30 pm ET, mentioning that it would proceed with fewer live listeners and unedited audio would be released immediately after. Musk also commented on the opposition to Trump's views during the interview.
